Max wins round 3!

After my post last night, things got a bit rockier. We continued to battle the low blood pressure and then Max's oxygen levels began to dip too. The only way the Doctors could get his blood pressure to increase was to push fluids through him. Regardless of the medications they gave him, his blood pressure would decrease. They couldn't figure out which mix of meds would work. At around 11pm, the surgeon came back and they were discussing possibly opening him back up. They changed around the meds and decided to hold off on doing anything else drastic.

At around 4 am, he began to stabilize. Throughout the day today he has remained stable and improved a small amount. His blood pressure is still low, but his oxygen levels are good. They think that he will likely come home on medication for Pulmonary Hypertension.

Right now we are working on getting his swelling down and then getting him off the ventilator. We are hoping that in the next 2 days this will happen. Once we can get him off the ventilator, we can begin talking about moving him to a less critical unit in the hospital. We are also hopeful that tomorrow he can begin receiving breast milk through a tube. He is receiving nourishment right now, but a small amount. We've worked so hard to get to 7 lbs 12 oz.

We'll post again sometime tomorrow.
