Children's it is...

We met with the 2nd opinion cardiologist last Wednesday as scheduled. It basically reaffirmed our decision to have the surgery done at Children's. Children's has such comprehensive care compared to the other clinic. Also, we felt more confident with the team at Children's. We had a second appointment at Children's on Friday. We will continue to have weekly appointments.

Max was back up to his birth weight! That was a huge relief. Feeding has been somewhat of an issue; so we were very happy that he is gaining weight. We started fortifying my breat milk. The cardiologist said that his breathing and heart rate were higher this week versus last week. We will go back on Friday to have a chest x-ray and another weight check. If he has fluid on his lungs, they will prescribe a diuretic. The cardiologist felt like he is doing pretty well though. He mentioned that we may push surgery back until he is 8 weeks old if he continues doing well. It doesn't sound like they will let him get past 8 weeks though.

Life at home has been a little hectic. Adding a 2nd child is just a lot of work. Steve and I are constantly in divide and conquer mode. I am hopeful that in a couple of weeks we will have more of a routine established.

Maya is still doing great. She turned 3 last week! My sister watched Max so that Steve and I could take Maya out to dinner. She is helping burp Max and really always wants to hold him. Sleep however has not been going well for this little monster. She seems to wake up at the end of his first nightly feeding most nights. Steve typically goes upstairs and snuggles her (and him) back to sleep. He swears that she tosses and turns, but they both look quite comfortable when I go up to check on them!
